1900's Georgian Gold Double Sided Portrait Photo Oval Pendant: Mother Daughter?
From my family's collection, I do not recognize these two ladies nor remember the history of the pendant.
This double locket looks like it features a girl of about 10 with a large white bow in her hair while her mom or sister wears an impressive necklace with visible pride. Both females' photos look to be professionally taken and are under what appears to be celluloid.
Size: including the top ring 1 inch high, and then slightly less across without the attaching ring.
10K: Using a gold assay kit, this piece registered as being 10K
Condition: There is a small spot on the older females' side that looks to go through the celluloid covering to a white substance (ceramic?) and then a pinpoint into a metal. This piece is unmarked and looks to be gold plated, with numerous indents and an area on the base that has been rubbed off, as if someone clutched the piece repeatedly. It is possible that at one time the piece opened up and was soldered shut, with something contained inside because the piece is very heavy and weighs 8 grams. I have not cleaned nor attempted to force the pendant open. Please see pictures as items are sold "as is" without the props used to take the pictures.
