    Description

A true survivor and highly collectable 1971 140 series Volvo-
Except for the driver front door which is slightly off-color (please see pic), this old Volvo is wearing it's ORIGINAL PAINT and there are no signs of accidents either!  The original paint has 50 years of patina, so this car isn't hiding any surprises!  The doors, hood and trunk lid all close and latch like new, the body gaps are flush and even. The windows all function nicely.  Because the car lived in Arizona's super dry climate, the chrome and aluminum trim are in excellent condition too! The leather seats are in very nice condition too except for a seam that has been sewn on the back bench (please see pic). The carbureted B20 engine starts immediately (no troublesome EFI to deal with), no major oil leaks or smoking.  The robust Borg Warner BW-35 automatic gear box shifts through all the gears and the 4 wheel disc brakes stop the car as they should.
Overall, this 50 year old classic Volvo is straight, extremely dry, mostly original and mechanically sound.
Even with the lack of amenities, the early Volvo 140's were the best!  Simple, sturdy, reliable, safe and economical. And in my humble opinion, the best looking! I love the stamped grille and tiny bumpers!
Full disclosure- There was a narrow strip (1/2'' x 4'') of rust spots (probably from the window being open) on the passenger rear step area that was cut out and repaired. No other signs of rust anywhere! The rest of the body is rock solid.  There are small dents in the bottom of both side rocker panels (please see pics), as well as misc small dings throughout the body.  The previous owner installed a floor shifter?? instead of sourcing an original column shifter (0.)  The tires have lots of tread, but old. The dry AZ climate has dried out some of the rubber on this car, but the trade off is a super dry body and undercarriage!
So this 50 year old classic isn't without flaws, but take a closer look, this car is in AMAZING condition for being 50 years old. TRUE SURVIVOR!  You could not find a better 144 to restore.  Or you could safeguard it's originality and enjoy as is. It's only original once!
***Please stay tuned, I am going to continue dropping my "buy it now" price until it is sold. It is also listed on Hemming and CL
