Antique Peacock Foiled Glass & Paste Very Large Hair Barrette

Description

This is an amazing hair accessory. It dates from the early 1900s. The barrette is crafted from Brass with paste stones and chez peacock foiled backed accents. The barrette features three round cabochons of foil backed chez peacock glass. The cabs are in a crimped bezel setting and soldiered to a bar which is then soldiered to the base of the barrette from the back side. The form is a lengthy 5 1/4 Inches in width. It boarders between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, perhaps a transition period.... The boarder of the accessory is covered in round faceted paste stones with lots of fire, obvious this piece has not been in contact with water, it is very well preserved. There is one stone that has been chipped on the top left side, yet the remainder of the past stone is still present. The back of the accessory features a hinge and curved bar with an eye loop at one end which connects into the ball clasp. This hair piece can be clasped or pinned into place in the hair. The over all condition is excellent with minor wear (one stone chipped as mentioned above).
