The Infiltec Model WSAA-9 is a portable wind spatial averaging array for use with the Infiltec Model INFRA20 infrasound monitor.
Wind is often the major source of background noise in infrasound monitoring. One method of wind noise reduction is to sample the wind pressure at several spatial locations and average these pressures so that the wind pressures add incoherently and tend to cancel out, but the signals of interest add coherently.
The WSAA-9 is a portable wind spatial averaging array with 9 ports separated by more than 1 meter each. The 9 ports are aquarium air stones for omnidirectional pressure sensing, and each is connected to the INFRA20 monitoring port by an equal length of plastic tubing via a manifold.  The theoretical maximum wind reduction of the WSAA-9 is the one over the square root of of 9, or 1/3.
