    Generally better than okay condition for the genre. Hinge remnants present. Some small nicks, bends or tears noted as a general rule. Large format Byam Carlton & Company shows a very fine, joined edge tear, just above the design element, which appears to have been a wrinkle at one time. It displays a date of Feb. 1880--the day could be a 2 or 9 or conceivably an 8. Nice lot that also includes a fine example of the ubiquitous Battleship revenue doubling as a private dye medicine revenue stamp; the example here being SC #RB23 with a red Hall & Ruckle ( H & R 1898 ) overprint.
