Description
For your consideration this week is an early 20th century hollow auger dowel tenon cutter.Made to fit in a bitstock or brace, this piece appeals to chairmakers, laddermakers, and other craftsmen as well as wheel-wrights. With a hollow auger, a sturdy joint can be made in two relatively simple operations. And, with a means of cutting the tenons uniformly, parts can be made in a batch rather than being individually hand-fitted.
This cutter stands 6-1/4” tall and measures approximately 5-1/4” wide. There is a small chip just below the bit (see first photo), but nothing is loose and there appears to be no integrity loss.

Thanks for looking!

Some stuff about bidding with me:
I’m in the business of treasure hunting for cool vintage items and collectibles. I’m not an antique dealer, but I do my best to describe items as best I can, pointing out any damage or concerns that are obvious. If I miss something, it is NOT intentional. No warranties expressed or implied. All vintage items are sold in “as is” condition. Please email with any questions prior to bidding, as it is my policy NOT to cancel bids.
I also do not end auctions early, so please don’t ask.
I ship almost all items using recycled materials, and make every effort to ship as economically as possible. I will always include Delivery Confirmation for items shipped within the United States.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: please email me for a shipping quote BEFORE you buy. Insurance will be built into your shipping costs.
Check out my other auctions. I list new items almost every day, so please check back often. I'm happy to combine shipping. And please note my 100% positive feedback -- you can feel confident in bidding with me.
